Sin is the thorny path to death. Repentance is the thorny path back to life. You get cut both ways. But the path of repentance has the balm built in.
Jesus didn't ask us to carry someone else's cross. He told us to carry our own. We don't get to choose our crosses. We just get to choose to obey, to follow, to pick it up, focus our eyes on him, and press on.
