First, thanks for reading this far and for your interest in this project. Let me begin by telling you a little bit about the book. The idea that has become Life in the Wild began years ago when I was asked to talk about the problem of evil with college students. I wanted to deal with the topic biblically and not just philosophically, as is often the case in apologetics. So, I began by reflecting on the opening chapters of Genesis and asking the question should we expect the world to look like if we had nothing to go on but the third chapter of Genesis.
I’m convinced that the first few chapters of the Bible lead us to anticipate precisely what we read about in the headlines. Now, after several years of ruminating on this message from Genesis, I have been given the opportunity to flesh my thoughts in a book that I hope will be both pastoral and helpful. Here’s an excerpt:
Think of the biblical story as both tragedy and comedy. It begins and ends in joy. But it is mostly filled in-between with a dark struggle to restore what was lost so early on, so long ago.
The opening and closing acts are about goodness. We live between acts now where we can see light looking far back, perhaps further than our eyes will allow, or by gazing into the indefinite future. It can seem nearly impossible at times to find our way in the here and now, in what I will describe as the wild.
This fallen world, the wild, hasn’t changed much since Adam and Eve’s time. The headlines have basically been the same since Genesis 3. But one day the page will turn, the king return, and history will be set aright. One day goodness will be restored.
If you are interested in joining the team please email me at MereCaffeination@gmail.com. Everyone selected to join the team will be sent an invitation to a private FaceBook page where we can connect and communicate about the project. Everyone on the launch team will receive a free digital copy of the book before the release of the book and then a hard copy that I will send you with a personalized note that I will mail out the week of the launch.
I hope to finalize the team in the next couple of weeks (before Christmas) so that we can prepare for a month of promotion in January leading up to the official launch. look forward to hearing from you soon and I ask that you join me in praying that the Lord might use this book to be a helpful resource.
