Honor to Whom Honor is Due

Does the passing of President Bush Senior mark the ending of an era? Must politics now be entirely nasty and brutish? Is humility no longer an important characteristic for the oval office?

Condoleezza Rice told CBS News, “Humility was [George H.W. Bush] his best quality. It was never about him and I think that’s what made him such a great president.” Humility is so powerful. Rice said it is what made Bush such a great president. What a great example for us all.

Honor is something we give to someone for whom honor is due, Scripture tells us (Romans 13:7). What a sweet thing to watch a nation say goodbye to a president who was indeed worthy of honor. And perhaps there’s no greater honor for a father than to have a son give a eulogy like that given by his son, President George Walker Bush:
