We’re Stuck in a House (Kid Story Contest)
E’RE stuck in a house. Maybe you are too? That’s a couple lines for a short children’s story I wrote tonight that made me think of an idea. I love to publish short kids’ books for my own kids. I self- publish them through a company called Blurb. But with this story, I want to use your kids’ art!
I thought a little challenge might be fun since we are all stuck in a house. Below is a video explainer of what I’m thinking and the text for the story below. If your children would like to make some drawings to illustrate this story, just email me them me through Facebook Messenger. On Sunday evening next week I’ll show all the artwork and share which ones are going to be in the book. I’ll design and upload the book within a week after that for anyone to flip through online.
We’re Stuck in a House
We’re stuck in a house
What shall we do?
We’re stuck in a house
Maybe you are too.
We’re stuck in a house
What shall we see?
We’re stuck in a house
What shall we be?
We’re stuck in a house
But what if it were a zoo
We’re stuck in a house
With bears, dogs, and kangaroos
We’re stuck in a house
But what if it were a ship
We’re stuck in a house
On a wonderful nautical trip
We’re stuck in a house
Isn’t it grand?
We’re stuck in a house
Our thinking mustn’t be bland
We’re stuck in a house
With nowhere to go
We’re stuck in a house
Or maybe it’s a UFO
We’re stuck in a house
On our way all the way to Mars
We’re stuck in a house
We’ll fly over all of the cars
We’re stuck in a house
Blasting right through space
We’re stuck in a house
On an amazing alien race
We’re stuck in a house
Make no doubt
We’re stuck in a house
Please don’t pout
We’re stuck in a house
But we haven’t lost our minds
We’re stuck in our house
Not stuck on our behinds
We’re stuck in a house
No reason for consternation
We’re stuck in a house
So let’s use our imagination
We’re stuck in a house
You see
We’re stuck in a house
Please Imagine, with me.
