Creative Consulting

I’m a jack of all trades. I’m good at several things, and excel in a few. That’s what makes me a good fit for an organization who needs a leader with diverse skills and interests with proven experience in leadership. Whether you’re looking for a creative director to recruit and lead a talented team for your growing organization, or a one-stop-shop-sort-of-position, I’d love to explore how we might collaborate.

 WRITING

I’ve written in a lot of genres. My first book for adults, published in 2014, was a finalist for “best new author of the year” at the Christian Book Awards. My first children’s book won two national awards. In addition to book publishing, I’ve written a number of articles for different publications, led public relations teams in developing releases, and helped shape copy for marketing assets. To see examples of my short copy, visit my Etsy page where I feature prints of sketches I’ve made over the years.

 DESIGN

I’ve always had an eye for aesthetics. I also like to make good designs. That’s why I can either serve as the sole creator for a job, or lead a team of creatives and give direction and support. The following graphic is a book cover I submitted alongside three other design firms for consideration for a book I authored for a publisher in London, England. The team chose my design and were happy to learn it was designed by the author — as they weren’t told the identity of the designers in their selection process.

 CREATIVE DIRECTION

My work in creative directing has always been marked by rolling up my sleeves and getting into several aspects of projects. I’ve pulled all nighters with web designers to hit deadlines (we had plenty of coffee and pizza). I’ve jumped in and written copy when our primary author was unavailable. In short, I don’t mind getting dirty with a little creative work. It’s kind of my jam.

The following videos are a couple examples.

I put the first video together to give an overview of the rebrand I led for an organization. I created the video to share the new brand with the organization’s board at their annual meeting. I wrote the script for the video and worked with a team member in South Africa to record the voice over. The video highlights their new logo that I worked with a design firm in Brazil to produce. It also introduces their new website I worked with a company in Indiana to create. I provided the graphics and art direction for them to build out the new theme.

The second video is one I worked on with a talented videographer as a part of a content marketing campaign for a seminary where I served in Louisville, Kentucky. At that time, it became the most viral video in their portfolio with hundreds of thousands of views. I wrote the content, did the sketching in the video, and recorded the voice over.

 ANIMATED VIDEOS

When duty calls, I can jump into video creation. It’s not my top skill set, but I’ve learned to make some fun stuff. The first video below was for an article I wrote and published on my site about “Photocopy Syndrome.” The second video is from a series of videos I made for a non profit that serves young academics in the Majority World in their pursuit of funding grants. We made a total of sixteen videos – all of which are available in English, Spanish, and Arabic.

 LET’S MAKE SOMETHING ROCK

If you are interested in working with me on a creative project please email me at daniel@theolatte.com. I take on a limited amount of illustration and consultation work as it is fits into my teaching schedule. I look forward to connecting. Let’s make something rock.
